Dimensions

Polar_Axis = 28-35 µm; Equatorial_Axis = 27-32 µm

Apertures

Three colpora, Colpus: elliptic, intruding, colpus apex acute, aperture_membrane psilate, distance between the adjacent colpal apices 7-9 µm, margo psilate (thinning of ectexine), costae_colpi present; Os: broad (5-7 µm) extending equatorially with diffuse(?) lateral ends, lalongate, oral_costae present

Exine

Medium_reticulate, tectate, mur <1.0 µm, lumina 1.0-2.0 µm, infratectum distinctly simplicolumellate, exine thickness: at poles ±2.5 µm; at the mid-point of the intercolpium ±2.0 µm

Remark

A stenopalynous genus. A. indica and A. sessilifolia are classified under Speranskia type [Punt, W. (1962)]

Distribution of Species

Western Peninsular India; Western Ghats: in Wayanad, Anaimalai, Travancore and Tirunelveli hills. Endemic to Western Ghats. Common in southern districts

8-9 spp., India & Sri Lanka to West Malaysia (Willis, J.C., 1988). Keys and distribution data for 2 species in Flora of Madras: pp. 921 & 922 (Gamble, J.S., 1967)
