Morphology
Symmetry and Form
Polyad, acalymmate, radial_symmetry, constituted of 16 monads, porate, circular in distal_face or proximal_face view or biconvex disk-shaped and elliptic in profile or lateral view. Central cuboidal monads (8) in 2 layers are surrounded by 8 peripheral ones that are polyhedric with rounded distal_face
Dimensions
Diameter = 83-95 µm
Apertures
Number of pores variable; central grains with 4 distal pores and 3-4 proximal pores; peripheral grains with 6 pores, pores circular (diameter = 6.0-7.0 µm) with annulus, aperture_membrane apparently striate, poral_costae absent
Exine
Tectate, tectum foveolate on the distal_face, infratectal columellae indistinct, apparently slender and short or columelloid, exine thickness at distal surface 2.0 µm
Remark
Basically similar 16-celled polyad showing minor variations (psilate, foveolate, fossulate and areolate exine) among species [Guinet, Ph. (1969)]
Tentative Pollen Typification
Albizia subtype
