Morphology

Symmetry and Form

Monad, radial_symmetry, isopolar, 3-colporate, spheroidal, to elliptic in equatorial_view, circular in polar_view.

Dimensions

Polar_Axis = 11-15 µm; Equatorial_Axis = 9-12 µm.

Apertures

Three colpora; Colpus: narrowly elliptic, protruding at the oral region, colpus apex acute, aperture_membrane psilate, distance between the adjacent colpal apices ±5.0 µm, margo undifferentiated, costae_colpi present; Os: apparently rectangular, lalongate, lateral ends wavy or irregular or tending to be synorate, oral_costae absent.

Exine

Psilate, tectate, infratectum faintly columellate (TEM in Vezey, E.L., Shah, V.P., Skvarla, J.J. & Raven, P.H. 1988: fig. 44), exine thickness: at poles ±1.0 µm; at the mid-point of the intercolpium ±1.0 µm.

Remark

A stenopalynous genus

Tentative Pollen Typification

Carallia type.
