Morphology

Symmetry and Form

Monad, radial_symmetry, isopolar, 3-colporate, elliptic in equatorial_view, (sub)circular to (sub)triangular (angulaperturate) in polar_view

Dimensions

Polar_Axis = 32-37 µm; Equatorial_Axis = 22-31 µm

Apertures

Three colpora; Colpus: elliptic, colpus apex obtuse, aperture_membrane granular, distance between the adjacent colpal apices ±10.0 µm, margo undifferentiated, costae_colpi present; Os: elliptic, lateral ends rounded, lolongate, oral_costae thin

Exine

Psilate and microperforate (SEM: microvermiculoid), tectate, infratectum columellate, exine thickness at the intercolpium ±2.0 µm

Remark

Pollen type of Diospyros can be divided into subtypes based on minor differences in endoaperture shape and exine pattern: psilate to micro-rugulate exine (Tissot, C., Chikhi, H. & Nayar, T.S., 1994 and De Franceschi, D. 1993)

Tentative Pollen Typification

Diospyros buxifolia type
