Morphology

Symmetry and Form

Monad, radial_symmetry, isopolar, 3-colpate, elliptic ( E > P ) to spheroidal in equatorial_view, circular in polar_view

Dimensions

Polar_Axis = 27-37 µm; Equatorial_Axis = 29-35 µm

Apertures

Three colpi, Colpus narrow and long, colpus apex acute, distance between the adjacent colpal apices ±10 µm, membrane granular, margo undifferentiated, costae_colpi absent

Exine

Microperforate or granular or micro-reticuloid, tectate, infratectum columellate, exine thickness: at poles ±1.0. µm; at the mid-point of the intercolpium ±1.0. µm

Remark

The most distinct micro-reticulate pattern in Hopea nervosa of Dipterocarpaceae, different pattern in other species of Hopea and irregularly grooved sculpture in H. sangal have been commented by Maury, G., Muller, J. & Lugardon, B. (1975)

Tentative Pollen Typification

Hopea type X
