Morphology

Symmetry and Form

Tetrahedral_tetrad, calymmate, radial_symmetry, distal_poles with polar_areas, each component 3-demicolporate, in position B, the outline is 3-loboid.

Dimensions

Diameter = 42-45 µm.

Apertures

Each component of a tetrahedral_tetrad is 3-demicolporate, 12 demicolpi (6 co-colpi) of four components of a tetrahedral_tetrad are meeting at 6 places (Fischer's Law). The shape of a pair of co-colpi is narrowly elliptic to ellipsoidal and colpal tips are obtuse to acute; colpal interapical distance ±18 µm, margo undifferentiated, costae_colpi indistinct or absent, aperture_membrane psilate; Os circular (d=2 µm), costate (width ±1.0 µm) present.

Exine

Microreticulate, mur ±0.5 µm; lumina <1.0 µm columellate, exine thickness(?) <2.0 µm

Remark

A eurypalynous genus [see Sowunmi, M.A. (1995)].

Tentative Pollen Typification

Gardenia type.
