Monad, radial_symmetry, isopolar, 3-colporate, angulaperturate, elliptic in equatorial_view, subtriangular in polar_view.
Dimensions
Polar_Axis = 17-28 µm; Equatorial_Axis = 19-27 µm.
Apertures
Three colpora; Colpus: elliptic, colpus apex acute, distance between the adjacent colpal apices 5-8 µm, margo diffuse with small meshes (d=±0.5 µm), colpus encircled by a periapertural thinning, aperture_membrane scabrous, costae_colpi absent; Os: ±ellipsoidal, lalongate, with interrupted costae.
Exine
Medium_reticulate, tectate, infratectum columellate, mur 0.5 µm; lumina 0.5-1.0 µm, exine thickness at the mid-point of the intercolpium 2.0-2.5 µm.
Remark
Pollen of the genus Microtropis with periapertural thinning (Hippocrateales type), surrounded colpi.
Tentative Pollen Typification
Hippocrateaceae type.

M. microcarpa: Western Ghats: common in Shola forests of the Nilgiris and Palnis at 1800 to 2400m; Map: Ramesh, B.R. & Pascal, J-P. (1997): Plate N°- 60; M. stocksii: Western Peninsular India; Western Ghats: in all districts, also common in semi-evergreen to moist deciduous forests of lower and upper Ghats; Map: Ramesh, B.R. & Pascal, J-P.
