Morphology

Symmetry and Form

Tetrahedral_tetrad-colporate (Fischer's Law) radial_symmetry, distal_poles with polar_areas; each component 3-demicolporate in position B the outline is triloboid.

Dimensions

Greater Diameter = 40-65 µm.

Apertures

Each component of a tetrahedral_tetrad is 3-demicolporate, 12 demicolpi or half colpi (6 co-colpi) of four components of a tetrahedral_tetrad are meeting at 6 places; the shape of a pair of co-colpi is narrowly elliptic to ellipsoidal and colpus apex acute to obtuse; colpal interapex distance 6.0-14.5 µm, costae_colpi separated from the extra-apertural nexine by circumcostal crevices, aperture_membrane apparently scabrate; Os narrowly elliptic to ellipsoidal, lalongate, oral_costae thin(?).

Exine

Psilate to finely rugulate, tectate, infratectum columelloid; nexine with few endocracks. Exine thickness ±2.0 µm.

Remark

A stenopalynous genus [see Vasanthy, G. & Pocock, S.A.J. (1987)].

Tentative Pollen Typification

Vaccinium type.
