Description
The manuscript is formed by palm leaves coming from five texts written in verses; they are incomplete. Three of the texts are medical notes written by practitioners. The texts approach diverse medical subjects, especially varma practice and medicinal formulas. The manuscript is in average condition. The leaves of diverse sizes are in diverse physical condition, from good to very damaged and broken.
Text 1- The text is formed of 3 palm leaves numbered 1, 3 and 5 belonging to the text entitled Varmā Cāri-200. This text deals with the varma practice and information given in this portion of text specifies that there are 108 types of vital points (varma) located in the body.
Text 2- The text is composed of 12 palm leaves of a text numbered 111, 121-125,129, 132-134, and 137-139, certainly written by a practitioner. It presents clinical features of diseases such as injuries (kāyam), poisonous snake and scorpion bites (vicanīr), inflammation (vīkkam), dysentery (mūla kirāṇi), sinusitis (pīṉicam), pediatric diseases (piḷḷai piṇi), children's indigestion (ciṟupiḷḷai māntam), indigestion caused by fever and a type of fever (cupa curam). It mentions also navanīr, a disease which has not been identified.
Text 3- The text is composed of 8 palm leaves formed by 4 numbered 24, 26, 34 and 36 and 4 which have no longer a number because they are very damaged. The text was certainly written by a practitioner who provides some medicinal formulations : Cilēṟpaṉa kaṣāyam, Kaṇṭakārī lēkiyam for treating tuberculosis, Amutucāra kuḻampu, as well as medicated fumes and medicines for healing ulcerated wound (cūla kiranti), and eight types of kuḷiyaṉ (not identified).
Text 4- The text is formed of 4 palm leaves numbered 1 and 5-7 belonging to the text entitled Kuru Nāti Cāstiram. It describes the state of pulse, notably of kuru nāṭi in case of injuries of vital spots (varmam). Interestingly, the text specifies that the varma knowledge should not be revealed. It has to be kept secret, even though high compensations (money, power, influence etc.) may be attractive.
Text 5- The text is composed of two palm leaves among them one is half broken. This text was certainly written by a practitioner who presents a medicinal formulatio and a technique of breathing called mūccu payiṟci.

நூல் 4- 1 மற்றும் 5-7 வரை எண் கொண்ட 4 ஓலைகளை கொண்ட இந்த நூல் குரு நாடி சாஸ்திரமென்ற தலைப்புடையதாகும்.இது வர்ம காயங்களில் குரு நாடியின் நிலை பற்றி கூறுகிறது.மேலும் வர்ம கலையானது ரகசியமாய் வைக்கப்படவேண்டும் என்ற சுவராஸ்ய தகவலை குறிப்பிடுகின்றது.எவர் வந்து பொன், பொருள் போன்றவற்றை தந்தாலும் சொல்லப்பட கூடாது என்றும் கூறுகிறது
நூல் 5- இந்த நூல் இரண்டு ஓலைகளை கொண்டது அவற்றில் ஒன்று பாதி உடைந்து உள்ளது.இந்நூலும் ஒரு வைத்தியரால் எழுதப்பட்டது அது ஒரு மருந்து செய்முறை மற்றும் மூச்சு பயிற்சி பற்றி கூறுகிறது
Extent and Format of Original Material
Size of the manuscript : 39.0cm x 4.5cm. The manuscript is in bad condition; many leaves are broken or damaged by rodents and larves. The three palm leaves of the text 1 are numbered 3 and 5; the first of the 3 leaves is very damaged by rodents and its number is not visible. The fourteen palm leaves of the text 2 are numbered from 111 to 139; two leaves are blank. The eight palm leaves of the text 3 are numbered from 24 to 36 (the number of some leaves very damaged is not visible). The four palm leaves of the texts 4 and 5 are numbered respectively from 1 to 4 and from 1 to 7; they are in excellent condition. The manuscript possesses also two leaves placed at the end : one is broken and one is numbered 37, it is close by a blank leaf.
The manuscript contains 36 palm leaves of 10 to 12 lines per leaf. It has no wooden boards.
