Description
The manuscript is composed of a text made up of 22 palm leaves without numbering; it is incomplete. The leaves of the manuscripts, which were stuck by fungus and mould, formed a bloc. They have been separated without damage, but the half of the five last leaves is missing. The leaves are extremely breakable, making the consultation of the manuscript very difficult.
The text is entitled Pañca Pakṣi Cāttiram. It concerns prediction (āruṭam), one part of astrology. The concept of the Pañca Pakṣi refers to five birds which are owl (āntai), hawk (vallūṟu), peacock (mayil), crow (kākā) and hen (kōḻi) which are used in health issues to make the diagnosis and to predict the evolution of the disease. These birds are also used by tradition-attached people to define the appropriate time to start an action and to accomplish a good deed.

எண்கள் இல்லாத 22 ஓலைகளை கொண்ட ஒரு நூலை உடையது இந்த சுவடி; இது முழுமை இல்லாதது.பூஞ்சை மற்றும் அச்சால் பாதிக்க பட்டுள்ள இந்த நூல், கத்தையாக ஒட்டியுள்ளது.அவை எந்த சேதமும் இல்லாமல் பிரிக்க பட்டது, ஆனால் முதல் ஐந்து ஓலைகளின் பாதி காணப்படவில்லை.ஆனால் இதன் ஓலைகள் பெரும்பான்மை உடைந்துதும் எளிதில் உடையக்கூடியதாகவும், ஓலையை படிப்பதை மிகவும் சிரமப்படுத்தி உள்ளன.
பஞ்ச பக்ஷி சாத்திரம் என்னும் தலைப்புடைய இந்நூல் ஜோதிடத்தின் ஒரு பிரிவான ஆருடத்தை பற்றியது.பஞ்ச பக்ஷிகளான ஆந்தை, வல்லூறு, மயில், காக்கா மற்றும் கோழி ஆகிய இவை நோய் கணிப்பு மற்றும் நோய் முன்னேற்றம் பற்றி அறிய பயன்படுகிறது.இந்த பறவைகள் நல்ல காரியம் ஆரம்பிக்க நல்ல நேரம் பார்க்க பயன்படுத்த பட்டு மக்களின் கலாச்சாரத்தோடு ஒன்றி உள்ளது.

Extent and Format of Original Material
Size of the manuscript : 19.5cm x 3.7cm. The 22 palm leaves of the text are not numbered. Two blank leaves are put at the beginning and at the end of the text. The manuscript is in bad condition. Its leaves, which were stuck by fungus and mould, formed a bloc. They have been separated without damage. Many leaves are partly damaged by mould. They are extremely breakable and their writing is darkened.
The manuscript contains 24 palm leaves with 14 to 16 lines per leaf. It has no wooden boards.
