Miscellaneous Notes
This text contains 1) skandaṣaṣṭhyutsava and 2) maṇḍalavidhi, both taken from the kumāratantra. The former relates to the celebration of the festival in honour of skanda on the sixth lunar phase in the āśvayuja month and the latter to the drawing of the maṇḍala which is here called bhadramaṇḍala. The colophon on fol. 37a and 40b refer to this work as skandaṣaṣṭhīvrata. Yet, the second line at the beginning states the contents to comprise of both vrata and utsava. IFI.T. 272 and 472 refer to the skandaṣaṣṭhyutsava which is in a way identical with that in the text under notice. Hence the title could be skandaṣaṣṭhyutsava. IFI.T. 272 has more agreement with the text under notice than IFI. T.472. Vratotsavavidhi is treated from fol. 37, 1.5 in the text under notice. The maṇḍalavidhi is called guhadīkṣāvidhi in IFI.T. 472 (pp. 61-62) and treated in the 10th paṭala. It has much agreement with the contents of the 10th paṭala of the kumāratantra (Madras 1915 and SIAA)
