This text contains the defination of pramāṇa-s according to śaivasiddhānta. AruLṇanti is the author of the śivajñānasiddhi, the commentary on śivajñānabodha. This is in 2 parts : parapakṣa and svapakṣa. The śivajñānasiddhi is in the form of Tamil verse of which the first 14 deal with the definations of pramāṇa-s and so get the comprehensive name ALaviyilakkaṇam. The text under notice contains gloss in Sanskrit for this portion. The words which begin the verse and which occur at the end of each verse, are stased at the beginning of the commentary of each verse. Citations are given from the siddhatantra, suprabheda and pauṣkara. IFI.T. 317-2, pp. 968-976 contains this text without the beginningand concluding portions. After discussing the number of pramāṇa-s according to the various schools, perception, inference and verbal testimony are admitted as the pramāṇa-s for the śaiva-system
