The colophon (fol. 57a) refers to this text as forming part of the kumāratantra in which śiva explains the principles to kauśika (kauśikapraśna). Kumāratantra is one of the 3 upāgama-s of the main lalitāgama. The text that we have here is not found in its 2 versions available in print: the kauśikapraśna or kumāratantra (C.P. 1st ed. 1916 (Grantha), SIAA. 2nd ed. 1974) and the kaumārasaṃhitā (SIAA. 1974) which is narrated by śiva to devī (IFI. T. 227 copied from the palm-leaf Ms. of Tiruvadudurai Adhinam). By tradition we hear that there is one more version of this upāgama which is narrated by śiva to sanatkumāra (sanatkumārapraśna) but so far we have no evidence of itṭext
