This text which deals with the worship of dattātreya is included within uḍḍāmareśvaratantra. .Dāmara-s represent one of the sixty four tantra-s (see kulacuḍāmaṇi tantra, paṭala 1 śloka 1-4). Uḍḍāmareśvaratantra, which is also known as uḍḍāmara, akin to ḍāmara, is held to treat the ritual of the six acts, śānti, vaśīkaraṇa, stambhana, uccāṭana, vidveṣaṇa and māraṇa. The text under notice deals with the mantra-s, yantra-s and dhyāna of dattātreya who is held to represent the divine descent of viṣṇu (vide:- bhāgavata 1.3.12) S.C. vidyābhūṣaṇa names him as datta and his gotra name as ātreya suffixed to it (S.C. Vidyābhūṣaṇa, History of Indian logic, Delhi 1971, pp. 10). Fol. 18a names him as dattātreya after his father whose name was dattātri. This is different from Tanjore Suppl. Burnell no. 12044. The fly-leaf a contains the siddhāricakra. Fol. 18a also contains a reference to the nativity of dattātreya and a dhyānaśloka on anasūyā
