This text of the makuṭatantra contains 9 paṭala-s. All the paṭala-s except the 1st and the 8th, have colophons. The major portion of the 1st paṭala is about the description of the āgama-s but there are some sentencea about liṅgasthāpana. Though the beginning of the 8th paṭala states that dīkṣāvidhi will be dealt with in that paṭala, it contains only the aṅkurārpaṇavidhi which is a preliminary rite to dīkṣā

ataḥ paraṃ pravakṣyāmi liṅgasthāpanam uttamam। yat sarvayajñeṣu yat puṇyaṃ sa tīrtheṣu yat phalam। tathaiva suparaṃ śaivaṃ saumyaṃ bhedañ ca dakṣiṇañ caiva miśrakam।
