Umāyāmala

This text contains 3 chapters of the umāyāmala dealing with mātṛpūjādhikāra (fol.6a-7a), mātṛdīkṣāvidhi (fols.7a-8b) and kramārcana-vidhāna (fols. 8b-11b) respectively. Umāyāmala belongs to the group of the śākta texts like rudrayāmala, skandayāmala and others. Fols. 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 bear on their margins, the numbers 155, 156, 182, 183, 184 and 185 written showing that much of contents of thsi text are lost. Ch. 3 which begins on fol. 7a (156) commences with the treatment of pañcācāryalakṣaṇa. Fol. 8b (182) ends with ch.4. The topic kramārcana, which begins on fol. 8b in ch.5 following ch.4. as mentioned in the colophon on fol. 8b ends on fol.11b (185) in which it is stated as ch. 18 in the colophon. The fols. numbered 182 to 185 follow in the regular order disallowing the suggestion that there could be break in between them, so as to explain how ch.18 is mentioned on fol. 11b, while ch.4 is mentioned on fol. 8b. Since the topic kramārcana continues in these fols. 8b-11b, the mention of ch.18 on fol. 11b must be incorrect. Agnikārya marks the beginning of the next chapter whatever be its number on fol.11b. This chapter breaks off at the beginning. This text umāyāmala, is stated in the colophons as having more than one lakh of quarters (pāda) having vidyāpāda and eighty seven procedures enjoined. Fols. 3 to 11 are numbered as 90, 99, 104, 155, 182, 183, 184 and 185. 20 fols. are found lost in this text umāyāmala
