This text contains 10 śloka-s in praise of śiva. The 1st 6 śloka-s begin with the letters forming the pañcākṣaramantra. The 7th śloka is in praise of śiva as the god protecting others from the poison hālāhala. śloka-s 8-10 contain phalaśruti of reading this stotra. This is different from no. 59.18 which is ascribed to śaṃkara. BR. I.(1960), no. 12 contains this stotra under the caption śivaṣḍakṣarastotra, and it agrees with the text under notice only in a few places. The source according to the colophon is the rudrayāmala. GOML. D. 11054 agrees with this text only for the beginning portion
